Psilocybe Caerulipes

Psilocybe caerulipes, commonly known as blue-foot, is a rare psychedelic mushroom variety that contains the psychoactive compounds psilocybin and psilocin. This magic mushroom used to be classified as Agaricus caerulipes but was reclassified after a review of its features.

Its name comes from the Latin words “caerulea” and “pes” which mean “blue” and “foot” respectively.

Caerulipes Identification

Psilocybe caerulipes can be found growing from late May to December. It may grow alone or in dense clumps in deciduous forests on hardwood debris, plant matter, or on decaying hardwood logs, birch, beech, and maple.

They are most common in eastern North America, from Nova Scotia to North Carolina, and west to Michigan. It has also been found as far south as Mexico in the states of Hidalgo or Veracruz. In Mexico it is found in cloud forests.

Psilocybe Caerulipes Effects

The amount of psilocybin, the hallucinogenic compound, in Psilocybe caerulipes is around 11% by dry weight. Because of its relatively lower amount of psilocybin, one effective dose of  caerulipes is equivalent to one to three fresh magic mushrooms.

Similar to most magic mushrooms, the effects of psilocybin from  caerulipes can last anywhere from 4-10 hours, depending on your tolerance and other environmental factors. Within the first 20 to 60 minutes, the effects of  caerulipes become noticeable. This is when light visual distortions start to take place. The effects of psilocybin begin to peak in 2 hours and plateau for 4-6 hours.

The physical effects  caerulipes are similar to a Psilocybe cubensis trip but less intense. 100% of magic mushroom trippers report a change in heart rate, pupil dilation, increased reflexes, and lower blood pressure. Some also report general instability or difficulty in coordination, tremors, and nausea.

Interestingly, magic mushrooms do not cause addiction, nor toxicity as studies proved they have no noticeable effects on electrolyte levels, blood sugar levels, or liver enzymes.
